The image below (17 August 2010) clearly shows continuing significant degradation of the flood bank geo-textile reinforcement.

Sub-standard in design and construction, this embankment was dismantled and rebuilt in 2004 at a cost of £1.3m.

The 4,000 sq metres of specially grown turf protection is disappearing fast thus leaving the black geo-textile material reinforcement exposed to both mechanical and solar damage.  In my opinion it is only a matter of time before the geo-textile reinforcement fails to fulfil its purpose.
