The Jubilee River story (0935) - Public Accounts Committee quizzes Dr Leinster

A variation of ‘Yes Minister’?

You might like to know that I attended the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee when they took evidence from Dr Paul Leinster - Environment Agency CEO – on 23 November 2011.

Committee Room 15 - Meeting started on Wednesday 23 November at 3.25pm - ended at 4.56pm

Flood risk management
Witnesses

                   i.  Bronwyn Hill, Permanent Secretary, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Dr Paul Leinster, Chief Executive, Environment Agency and David Rooke.

Fiona Mactaggert (MP for Slough) spoke on the Jubilee River issues, and Margaret Hodge (the Chairman) was really searching!

Dr Leinster was well tested, but I believe the committee members themselves also benefited greatly from the Jubilee River disclosures.

The 90 minute broadcast can be found on the House of Commons web site via the link below.  I urge anybody at risk of flooding or suffering from insurance problems to watch the complete broadcast if possible!

The Jubilee River segment starts at 44 minutes and finishes at 52 minutes, but there are elements on other issues and schemes including Morpeth, IDB’s, partnership funding, insurance, dredging and responsibility.

How much is the EA CEO paid?
