The Jubilee River story - Thames Hydropower at Romney Weir (Windsor) - £1.7m - and the 'Big Society'

These two Archimedean Screws are due to be installed at Windsor, on the same stretch of Thames where the flow has been reduced as a result of building the £110m Jubilee River (MWEFAS) project.  At an estimated cost of £1.7m can you guess who pays?

From the Observer 4 February 2011

6/2/11 - Also the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has agreed to review their 'Big Society' Thames hydropower proposals

However the Chairman and members of the panel agreed that whilst criticism was not being levelled at the EA, it was hoped to make them more accountable, responsive and focussed on local residentsí needs.
