Have I upset Wraysbury Parish Council?

Below is an extract from the Wraysbury Parish Council Minutes and beneath that an e-mail to the Chairman - Wraysbury Parish Council - 31 May 2012

At a Meeting of the COUNCIL for the PARISH OF WRAYSBURY

held in the Colne Room of the Village Hall at 7.30 pm on MONDAY 16TH APRIL 2012

Present: Councillor A. Davies (in the Chair), C. Collins, Mrs. D. Hughes, J. P. Jackson,

J. Lenton, Mrs. M. Lenton, P. Lord, D. Martin, T.A. Rooks, G Sinclair and the

Clerk.

No members of the public were present.

Prior to the formal business of the Parish Council, Councillors were addressed by Mrs.

Hilary Essen of the Ramblers’ Association. Councillors found this very informative

and took advantage of the invitation to ask questions.

The Chairman opened the formal meeting by requesting a minute’s silence in memory of

Mr. Eric Larcombe who had sadly recently passed away. Mr. Larcombe was a former

Councillor and Chairman of Wraysbury Parish Council’s Properties Committee and was

dedicated to problems caused by flooding and the effect of the water table. A memorial

service is being held on Friday 27th April 2012.

12/066 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Apologies for absence were received from Councillor M.R. Smith.

12/067 QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC

There were no questions from the public.

12/071 CHAIRMAN’S COMMUNICATIONS

The Chairman referred to what he described as ‘much uninformed discussion’ which had

taken place particularly in emails regarding Kingsmead Pit. He stated that for some

time he had been aware of what had transpired but was unable to divulge this information

as a court case was pending. He stated that Carcarc had been prosecuted and

subsequently fined for the type of waste and the quantity of material deposited in

Kingsmead Pit. However he added that although the waste was odourous rather than

non-odourous, it was not obnoxious and there was no damage to the environment of the

Parish of Wraysbury. He reported that he would be writing to the Chairman of Datchet

Parish Council complaining about allegations made by Councillor Ewan Larcombe who

had also allegedly interfered in the affairs of Wraysbury Parish Council. A number of

Councillors raised questions relating to Kingsmead Pit but the Chairman replied that ‘we

must rely on the Environment Agency who over see the license and we await their report

with interest. Once received, this will be available for discussion.

Councillor Collins raised concerns regarding Carcarc’s presence at Hythe End. He was

requested to provide any evidence of any change in the material being deposited on that

site. Any such information will be passed on to the Environment Agency.

e-mail to Chairman - Wraysbury Parish Council - 31 May 2012

Andrew

Ref 12/071 – Chairman’s communications (copy text inserted below)

Firstly, when you write to the Chairman of Datchet Parish Council about me, would you please be so kind as to provide me with a copy of your complaint?

Secondly, I would appreciate a detailed explanation from you as to how I ‘interfered in the affairs of Wraysbury Parish Council’?

Thirdly, I do feel that your reliance on the Environment Agency is (at best) misplaced.

Finally, in the knowledge that this mess has now dragged on for over one year, please can you advise me as to when the EA report will be available?

Thanks

Ewan
