The Jubilee River story - the Manor Farm Weir problem - August 2004

Sub-standard design - extensive damage - costly repair!

The Manor Farm Weir on the Jubilee River was designed and built back-to-front.  The centre of the weir curves downstream rather than upstream. When first used in January 2003 the floodwater scoured the banks at both ends of the weir.  The installation of significant quantities of hard protection (steel sheeting and rock protection as recorded in the images below) has now reduced the probability of further scouring in this area. Note the algae upstream of the yellow buoys.
