The Jubilee River story - Flood water returns from pit to drain.

After the flooding in Wraysbury had peaked, the gravel pit that had accommodated a significant volume of rising flood water remained surcharged, finishing about 1m above its normal level.  This resulted in permanent local groundwater flooding because the gravel pit had (and still has) no natural outlet.

The pit failed to drain naturally and caused problems for many weeks afterwards.
