The Jubilee River story - January 2003 - the flood water comes up

Very briefly - heavy rain in December 2003 and January 2003 led to serious Thames catchment flooding.

The Jubilee River allegedly saved some 500 homes in Windsor, Eton and Maidenhead from flooding, but many hundreds of households downstream of Windsor were affected by flooding for the first time since 1947.

At only 2/3rds capacity the Jubilee River structures were seriously damaged and the gauging was overwhelmed or destroyed.

Predictably the Environment Agency denied responsibility and the orchestrated whitewash began, but over subsequent years the project failings were exposed
