I believe that prevention is cheaper than cure, and that the regular monitoring and planned maintenance of watercourses is a crucial element. The Bosham FPS is a good example of how individuals and organisations can work together in order to reduce the probability of flooding.
THE BOSHAM FLOOD PREVENTION STRATEGY
This document explains in detail how the Bosham Flood Prevention Strategy (BFPS) is managed so as to minimise the risk of flooding in the event of abnormal rainfall conditions or where exceptional water is flowing, or expected to flow, from the north through Bosham near Chichester.
