The Seacourt stream which runs behind my house has not been properly dredged
since the 1940's (by Italian prisoners of war) and in my lifetime has been
reduced from about forty feet to a tiny channel less than five feet across
in some places, blocked with silt and fallen down trees.
Instead of paying so-called experts to come up with fancy schemes about
digging a new flood diversion channel and 'long term solutions' why not just
clear out the existing rivers and streams which are more than capable of
handling the excess water?
