THE TRUTH ABOUT THE JUBILEE RIVER
Ø
Substandard in concept, design and construction
Ø Many structures damaged on first use
Ø Unable to carry design capacity of 215 cumecs
Ø Designers paid £2.75m out-of-court settlement
Ø Flow control often operated at midnight
Ø Bypasses traditional attenuating flood plain
Ø Accelerates flood flows to undefended villages
Ø EA in denial and unable to learn from mistakes
OTHER DATCHET, HORTON AND WRAYSBURY ISSUES
Ø RBWM BLP recommends 490 new houses on green belt/flood plain
Ø So where is the new infrastructure?
Ø ‘Unauthorised and tolerated’ development
Ø Ineffective RBWM Planning Enforcement
Ø Failure to protect our local green spaces and maintain land drainage
Ø Ever increasing volumes of speeding traffic, pollution, fly-tipping and vandalism
Ø Motor vehicles on public open spaces, play areas, footpaths and verges
