The Jubilee River story - Flooding in Wraysbury - 1947

There was much flooding in 1947.  Deep snow on the ground frozen for many weeks thawed suddenly due to rain, and the water had nowhere to go.

The image of a steam train approaching Wraysbury Station along flooded lines in 1947 could not happen today because the trains are electric and use a third rail system.
