There are 5 million people, 2.2 million homes and 185,000 businesses currently at risk from flooding in England and Wales. Our mission is to stem the tide by investing over £500 million a year on defences, education, habitat enhancement, strategic planning and - perhaps most importantly - on watercourse engineering and maintenance.

This is where you come in. You’ll lead a 90-strong team responsible for keeping rivers, weirs and locks clear of obstructions that can cause flooding, aswell as delivering an emergency response to flood and pollution incidents. Covering an area from Swindon in the West to Reading in the East, High Wycombe in the South to Banbury in the North, this team includes 18 engineers and technical experts who prepare, design and manage construction and maintenance programmes.

An experienced Civil Engineer with or approaching Chartered status, you must be a natural leader capable of managing heavy workloads in a rapidly changing environment. The ability to mentor, motivate and shape a high performing team will be essential.
