Datchet, Horton & Wraysbury - Flooding.
There are no excuses now!
In my opinion, the probability of flooding here is increasing significantly over time. Watercourses lack maintenance, and groundwater levels are rising. The £110m Jubilee River flood alleviation scheme has proven to be flawed in design, construction and operation, and I am certain is a significant potential safety hazard. Another £1.4m of your money is to be spent on JR embankment strengthening.
As a result of the May 2007 election, our RBWM Councillors are now all from the same Party, and that Party is in the majority at the Town Hall.
I now intend to monitor your Councillors performance in resolving the local flooding and watercourse issues and in particular their ability and swiftness in fulfilling their promises given during and since the election campaign.
Apparently Councillor Rayner has discussed the flooding risk at two meetings with Baroness Young, the Chief Executive of the Environment Agency.
