Welcome to the 'Barbara Young' page

Now known as Baroness Young, Barbara Young was Chairman of the Thames Region Flood Defence Committee during the construction of the £110m MWEFAS project.  After multiple structural problems appeared on first use in January 2003, she quickly moved on to become CEO of the Environment Agency.

In November 2003, Barbara Young amended the Environment Agency Board Meeting Paper prior to circulation as follows:

Barbara Young inserted the following amendments at 6.24pm on 13 November 2003

- Concern that the channel capacity does not meet the design criteria. Resulting potential liability issues [Do we really want to highlight these in public?]

To make matters worse, the Board Meeting paperwork was circulated complete with 'tracking' details.  So here we are with the Environment Agency continuing to deny liability for exacerbating flooding downstream of Datchet, whilst simultaneously taking legal action on matters relating to sub-standard design.

Then Baroness Young moved on to the Care Quality Commission - and here we go again............
