Draft River Hull Flood Risk Management Strategy – Public Sessions
We’d like to invite you to a meeting where you will be able to find out about and ask questions related to our draft flood risk management strategy for the River Hull catchment.
You may be aware that we are developing a strategy to manage flooding from the River Hull. In October 2008 we held some public drop-in events where we spoke to people about the draft strategy and some of the possible options for reducing flood risk. Since then we have been working on improving our technical understanding of the catchment. This has resulted in some developments to the strategy options, including removal of the proposal for flood storage at Leven Carrs.
Why are we holding these sessions?
We wanted to give you the opportunity to find out more about the strategy before the formal consultation which will start in the Spring. These sessions are not part of the formal consultation. They are an opportunity for you to hear more about the strategy and about the consultation process – how you can tell us your views. Our plans are not yet finalised and we will not be presenting our final recommendations until the formal consultation.
What will these sessions be like?
Each session will last for two and a quarter hours, we hope you can come for the whole session. We will begin with a presentation explaining the purpose of the strategy, recent technical work and how we have used the feedback provided by the community last year. This will be followed by a structured question and answer session where you will work in small groups to develop the questions you want to ask. These questions will then be put to the Environment Agency and its technical consultants who will aim to provide the information you need.
After the meeting our technical team will be available for a half an hour to answer any remaining queries or questions.
What can I do if I can’t attend?
If you are unable to attend any of the sessions or would like a written update, we can provide you with a fact sheet summarising the information we will be providing. Please contact us on the number below.
If you would like to pick up some information or ask a quick question then please come along at the advertised finish time of the session when we will be happy to talk to you individually.
