Flood review - last chance to speak up
Floods Minister John Healey meets victims Dr and Mrs Derek
Wilkinson at Morpeth
Published Date: 06 November 2008
IT'S the last chance for flood victims to have their say in an
independent review of the disaster.
Consultants have been appointed by Castle Morpeth Council to investigate
the handling of the flood and recovery work by all the agencies
involved.
Three meetings have taken place at Chantry Middle School for residents
to contribute their views, but for those who could not attend, there's
still time to put their observations in writing.
Council Director of Customer Services Paul Johnston said: "We are really
grateful to the 100 or so residents who came along to talk to the
consultants and express their views, but would like to make sure that
everyone who wants to comment on the way the various agencies handled
the emergency gets an opportunity to do so.
"If residents were not able to attend the meetings in October, they can
still write to or e-mail the consultants with their comments."
The team from JBA Consulting is looking at preparations for the
emergency, what happened on the day and the recovery process so far.
The closing date for submissions is Wednesday, November 12 and a draft
report is expected early in the New Year. Anyone wishing to give their
views should write to JBA Consulting, The Byre, Spring Hill Office Park,
Pitsford, Northampton, NN6 9AA, or e-mail morpeth@jbaconsulting.co.uk
