A RESIDENTS action group is urging Morpeth flood victims to write to local MP Denis Murphy.
The group was formed among some of those affected by the event at a meeting at Morpeth County First School in Goosehill on Monday.
They want as many of them as possible to tell him about their experiences and give their views on things such as how they can be helped to recover and future flood defences.
The Member for Wansbeck has provided pre-paid addressed envelopes for people to use and they are available from Alan Bell by telephone on 05602 464851 or 07905 564252 or by e-mail at
alanbell14@btinternet.com
The group will campaign for a review of and future action on Morpeth's flood defences.
Also at the well attended meeting, Linda Fugill, from the Morpeth Citizens Advice Bureau, spoke about the charity's role, Geoff Parkin talked about his flood study project plans and councillors from Castle Morpeth Council and Northumberland County Council provided support.
Mr Bell said: "We are beginning to set up information networks for those affected to be kept up-to-date.
"Although Middle Greens and Mitford Road are well represented, we need more contacts in the High and Low Stanners and central Morpeth areas, while people who were affected in other parts of the Borough are also welcome. Anyone interested can contact myself."
Drop-in and collection points have been established at Castle Morpeth Council FirstCall in Bridge Street and the New Life Christian Centre in Dacre Street, which has now set up computers with Internet access.
Mr Bell added that the next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 3, with venue, time and guests to be arranged.
Those interested in joining the group can contact Mr Bell or Trevor Walmsley by e-mail at
