Flood action group planned

Published Date: 12 October 2008

MOVES to form a residents' action group among Morpeth's flood victims will be made at a meeting on Monday.
Morpeth County First School in Goosehill will host it from 7pm and local councillors and organisations including the Environment Agency have been invited along.

Those with particular needs and questions will either receive the required information or be directed to the right people or body to help them.

Chief organiser Alan Bell said: "It's important for those who were affected by the flood to come along as we need to do certain things as a group instead of individually to help get things done for the whole Morpeth community, such as pressing for new flood defences.

"There will be an update on the latest situation from Castle Morpeth Council and in some cases individual information will be passed on to the relevant people including Paul Hendy from the National Flood Forum."

For more information, contact Mr Bell by telephone on 05602 464851 or 07905 564252 or by e-mail — alanbell14@btinternet.com.
