Wraysbury Drain - a maintenance problem!!!
The picture below (taken 28/7/2009) shows the Wraysbury Drain blocked solid at Hythe End.
The picture below (taken 12/10/2008) shows the Wraysbury Drain blocked solid at Hythe End.
No kitchen sink, but there is a toilet pan in amongst the rubbish!
The original bed of the watercourse is approximately 1m below the underside of the bridge.
The little water that flows through the centre of Wraysbury Village now just disappears into the ground because it is unable to travel down the watercourse.
So who is responsible?
Wraysbury Drain was designated Critical Ordinary Watercourse, but the Environment Agency did not add it to the Main River map, so the local authority is responsible for ensuring that it is properly maintained.
The borough is Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead.
