Drama of woman's river rescue

 

 

A dramatic riverside rescue saw firefighters save a stricken woman from the River Thames in Marlow last night.

The woman is thought to have fallen into the swift flowing waters of the Thames fully clothed, near All Saints Church at around 9.15pm.

Four fire engines, two ambulances and two police cars were scrambled to the scene and she was eventually pulled out of the river by a rescue boat close to the dangerous Marlow Weir, near Quarry Road.

The woman, thought to be in her late forties, escaped uninjured from her ordeal and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
 
Bill Lambrich, white watch crew manager at High Wycombe Fire Station, said: "She was fully-clothed and heading towards the lock. The river was high and quite fast so she was very lucky that she was unhurt."
