UK AWARDED £120M FOR FLOOD REPAIRS
12:06 - 11 March 2008
The European Union today awarded £120m to help cover the long-term costs of the flooding across the UK.
The money will now be transferred to the UK Treasury, which will consult with local authorities on how best to allocate the funds.
There is no indication how much might be given to Hull and the East Riding.
Yorkshire MEP Richard Corbett said: "Yorkshire was one of the regions most severely affected by the floods and I would urge local councils to work with the
Treasury to get their share of the money."
