A NORTH Yorkshire MP will visit people whose lives have been blighted by flooding this summer.
Anne McIntosh, MP for the Vale of York and Shadow Floods Minister, is visiting flood hit areas in Sheffield on Tuesday.
Miss McIntosh said: "My heart goes out to those whose homes, businesses and property have been affected by the floods.
"Although the floods may have receded, those whose homes and businesses were damaged remain affected, and I hope to talk to some of them to gain further understanding of the problems they have faced in clearing up.
"The damage to Meadowhall Shopping Centre was devastating, and will lead to a huge loss of business. I shall also discuss flood prevention, flood defence and warning systems.
"The devastating effects of the floods in Sheffield must not be forgotten. More than 1,000 businesses were affected, significant damage was done to roads and infrastructure, and more than 1,400 people attended reception centres."
