The EA stopped dredging  10-15 yeas ago and sold the dredgers for next to nothing. The sum of £3000 comes to mind. The second hand value of the fittings alone made them an absolute steal.  

The river is silted up and lacks it's former capacity.  

I gather the water shortages were associated with similar problems in the canal system, following privatisation.

What we need is a champion to form a party that highlights the utter incompetence, abuse and integrity issues within politics today and provides a bit of competition.  They are too comfortable and underachieve.
