This quango costs millions to run. They are very top heavy and seem to get lost in all their pointless form filing and meetings for meeting sake. Other bodies or agencies could take on its work. For example county councils could take on all the critical watercourse aspects that the EA deal with. Local coastal authorities could be given coastal funding direct from defra and not bid to the EA and Natural England could take on all the actual environmental work that they do.
How the idea could be implemented
All grant aid funding from Defra or the government
direct to the EA should be given to other bodies which
are set up and could handle the work such as those
mentioned above.
